In the Patriarchal Papers there is an enquiry by my Dad as to the availability of blessings converted into braille. Thoughtful. Creative.
Blessings given: 1616 in all between March 1970 and July 2006.
I will consult with our Stake Patriarch to find out what I need to do with some of the Patriarchal papers. In the meantime the shredder has been busy shredding all sorts of general distribution, and yet specific, papers that I think would be very interesting - if I had time to read them.
I find it interesting that so many plain and precious things are "in plain sight." Those who have eyes to see, see.
My Dad gave me my patriarchal blessing in 1970. Mine is number 9.

Poem - Reflections
I found this poem by an unknown author in my Dad's papers today - in the box containing notes from seminars he attended as a patriarch.
Reflections
God gave me twelve full months of time,
Another year to use as mine.
But I was blind and could not see
The value of this gift to me.
Through Spring's awakening I lay mute,
The Summertime bore me no fruit.
The pageant passed that was the Fall,
Then suddenly I saw it all.
My year had died, God called it home.
I held it's ashes, tenderly, alone.
If God would grant this gift to me once more,
Another year to me restore,
I pledge my heart and hands to Thee,
Of service to humanity.
Not by some deed of great display,
Just in a quiet, humble way.
Hmmm... Good words for all of us.
My Dad
Charles Kenneth Powrie is my Dad.
He died a couple of years ago. I have just been given 30 odd boxes of his things. I am going steadily through them and seeing my Dad as I never saw him before!
Brave, bold, honourable man.
Thanks Dad.
I will be posting entries as I open boxes over the next little while.
